ABOUT ZOE'

Zoé Komkommer (1998) is a photographer based in Antwerp, Belgium.

Her work began with an early fascination for the way her mother captured everyday life with an analogue camera. That way of seeing has stayed with her; attentive, intimate and guided by memory. Zoé photographs the people and spaces close to her and follows the subtle emotional threads that connect them.

She draws on personal and family archives, rearranges memories and captures fragments of everyday life. Her images oscillate between presence and absence, between the lived and the remembered, and are characterised by a warm melancholy in which gentleness and vulnerability coexist.
