SMAK [Ghent, BE] + Biënnale van België gave any artist the opportunity to show their work temporarily on a plinth in the museum.

I decided to intervene on the plinth itself.

14|01|2022 around 15h50 I moved the plinth on it's side. A few minutes later it was back in it's original setup

By moving it on it'side. The white cube becomes a box.
The closed plinth looses it's function, becoming an open box in the white cube gallery.

The Plinth is a monument to impermanence and serves as a platform on which the artist is temporarily given free rein.

The Plinth does not have a curator and is only subject to the temporary activator. To participate in this project, follow the steps below:

The Plinth is both an opportunity and a practical response to the difficult process of achieving ‘recognition’ as an artist. It is important for an artist’s career to be exhibited in a museum. To support these careers, we want to give everyone the same chance. The plinth is yours.
